News flash
News Flash ( by Fritha)
We are moving (but not to Brazil, yet). Most unexpectedly God has opened the door for us to move to Georgia. In just one day, God provided a job for Jeff and a few potential housing options for us. This will mean that Jeff and I can finally switch roles, and I will be able to stay home with Dani! I am so excited about being a full-time wife/mom. The thought of laundry, cleaning, shopping and cooking thrills me. We are looking forward to being able to spend some quality time with Jeff’s family and our many friends living in the area. We are planning to move around the middle of July.
In the midst of planning what to take to Brazil and what to leave behind and what we need to buy before leaving and what to store and what to get rid of and what will we really need anyway... I read in the Message these words of Jesus as he sent out the Twelve, “Don’t load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment.” This refreshing reminder shifted my focus from the task to the purpose. We will still perform the task, but I trust we can keep the purpose in focus through it all.
On this note, thank you to each one who is sending prayers and money our way. We will face a number of intimidating “setup” expenses like airfare, buying a car, paying to transport our household wares, & setting up house in Brazil. Watching our PAZ account grow now, before we are even “on the mission field,” encourages me daily. God is so good and right now He is blessing us through YOU! Thank You!

Update for Feb 09
Hi team,
Things are moving along for a departure date to Brazil. I now have two meeting with Churches set up. One is with my Sending Church/ organization KCM. The other is at Element Church here in the Tampa area. I will be speaking there on March 29th. I would appreciate prayer for both of these times. God has set up these appointments and want Him to be able to do all he wants. I also have a few Churches I am trying to set up dates with. Please pray for that as well.
In other areas, we are still receiving response from our first mailing. God has placed it on many of your hearts to partner with us in our mission to Brazil. Currently we have 7% of our total financial support pledged. All of that is coming from personal donations. Thank you so much for your generosity.
The family is doing better now that in recent days. We had a little fight with the flu for the past two weeks but it looks as if that particular fight is over for now. Also for those of you who have a facebook account I am planning to start a group where you can receive updates there. I also will have a blog where I will be posting the email updates and maybe more often as well. Please keep in touch, we all love you. If you are thinking of adding your financial support or would like me to come speak at your church give me a call, I would love to give you more information on what God is doing in the Amazon.
May God bless you all richly,
Jeff, for all the Turners

New phase in my blogging relm
As many know my family and I are trying to travel to Brazil as Missionaries. So I think it's time to dust off the old blog and see what we can do about giving some updates through this medium. I hope you will be able to check here monthly or so and get some information on our progress toward our departure date (yet to be determined). Also after the move you will be able to keep up whit some of what God is doing for us in Brazil.

Unfortunately Fortunate
This post goes out to Paige...
I heard the an old story today, which goes like this...
A man in the village found himself in possession of a new horse.
And all the villagers said, "How fortunate."
While riding the horse, the man's son fell & broke his leg.
And all the villagers said, "How unfortunate."
While the son was still recovering, the army came to the village
and took all the young men off to war, except the man's son.
And all the villagers said, "How fortunate."
Sometimes, all it takes is a little more info for bad news to transform itself into good news.
When I heard the recent report regarding the cancerous cells in her CSF, I didn't like God again. Sometimes I just don't get his ways. But then one day I was in the course of my usual routine and God met me in a unique way, as seems to be his MO. I was doing calf raises while standing on the edge of our hearth (this being the only step in our flat Floridian house). For balance I was gripping the bricks with my fingertips and for sanity I was distracting myself from the burning sensation in my legs by reading a piece of caligraphy Melissa created for me. As I read excerpts from Shakespeare's Henry V's St Crispin's Day speech, a phrase struck me: "rainy marching in the painful field." Now I've always been inspired by the honor and glory contained in that speech, by the victory, by the end result, but this day I found myself focusing on the events preceding the glory, honor & victory. If I want the glory (which if it be a sin to covet honor, I am the most offending soul alive), then the battle comes first and the rainy marching in the painful field precedes even the battle. Suddenly I found myself content to trudge (think a knight's tale) in the mud & rain & cold of life. I still don't understand the problem of pain, but I can trudge.
